About

Jake Pawelek is an artist who uses painting, sculpture, installation, drawing and writing to fuel his creativity. Influenced by the impatience of living in an over stimulated culture, his work investigates the character and developmental, constructive states of a figure. He is critically engaged in the idea of transcending materials to explore larger ideas of life. " I believe materials can transcend their physical existence and become something entirely new by manipulating their appearance. "Through the physicality of molding, building, ripping, tearing, scraping, and attacking the surfaces, my work enacts a primal interaction between the artist, the work, and the viewer." Jake Pawelek received his BFA degree from Southwestern University in 2015. Not only did he study art at Southwestern University he was also a member of the pirate baseball team and received all-conference honors. He currently lives and works in Texas.
